Born and raised in Vienna, Austria to Bulgarian parents, I was exposed to the breathtaking richness of Viennese architecture, sculpture, art, and music.
Diversely inspired by a lifelong love of the arts, I explore my creative vision of life and use my intuition to translate images of my past and present. I moved to the United States at age 12 with a European influence that shaped me into an artist acutely in tuned with the beauty of everyday life.
I studied at the Atheneum School of the Arts in La Jolla, Watts Atelier in Encinitas, and the Losina Art Center in Point Loma. My solo shows have been at Graham Downs Architecture, Teknion in Los Angeles and Ray at Night. I exhibited in group shows at ArtSD17, Kettner Arts and the Losina Art Center. In 2008 and 2014, I participated in the juried show at the Atheneum in La Jolla.
Currently I am working on private commissions and preparing for my future shows.
Zone913, Inc. is an independent media and publishing company specializing in limited-edition Fine Art, unique books and one-of-a-kind collectibles. As a company, our intention is to delight and excite you with changing collections of brilliant photographs that distill the nature of the sea and beach into abstract Art, with historic photographs taken in the Maya Yucatán region of Mexico, and with drawings, collages, books and other creative works.
The name Zone913 comes from the ancient Maya concept that we humans live and create on this thin membrane that lies between the 13 layers of the bright Otherworld and the 9 levels of the dark Underworld. This symbolism is illustrated in the Maya pyramids in the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico and the Highlands of Guatemala.
To connect these three zones in contemporary terms, David Björkman's Minimalist painting illustrates the great contrast that forms the whole of the Universe. He says: "We humans inhabit this watery blue zone, this space to create, where we bring our visions to life between opposing forces, here painted in the symbolic red and green."
"Plus," he adds, "starting, maintaining and growing a small business is an experience that seems to encompass the whole of the 913 realms - both heaven and hell. A company's longevity should be measured in dog years."
Established in 1998, Zone913, Inc. aspires to bring you creative works that fill the heart and senses with joy.
