Hi! My name is Sherry Molling the owner and founder of Botanicals by the Sea. Many years ago as a single mother I decided to try my hand at jams and jelly making.
It was a great girlfriend gift. That led to more experimenting and eventually to gardening. I discovered a love for herbs and of their natural qualities for cooking, aromatherapy, and healing. I enjoyed the use of natural herbs, fruits, and products beyond the normal uses. I discovered there were other alternatives than a pill or an expensive ointment. As the years went by my skin conditions became a matter of concern. As my problems were not fixed by various doctors I felt it was time to try my hand at creating some of my own natural remedies. As that took off it was time to add more pampering products to my area of expertise. I need to thank my friends and family for all of the testing and experimenting. They always were willing to give something a try no matter how bad it looked or smelled. I do not test on animals only girlfriends, I like to joke.
As my knowledge increased so did my passion for learning. I researched and began making products that have made a difference to many of you out there. I am grateful for the help of some friends and their expertise in various fields. I would not be here today without them. So, it was time to branch out and share my balms, remedies, and pampering products. My son Taj has been there through thick and thin and only gave a small gasp when I said we were going to be in our very first event. The Carlsbad Street Fair of 2010. A guarantee of over 100,000 people. We had never even set up a booth or raised a canopy! Talk about a learning curve. Thanks to my friends and family that day was a success. We have made many changes and are continually growing, expanding, learning, creating, and evolving.
My company would not be here today without the support of Ronnie Walker, my daughter Angie, my sister Wendy, best friends Allison and Janene and many more. Cathleen has been a vital part with her advice and pushing to always go to the next level. Her help in 2013 has taken my company so far. A special thanks once again to my son Taj. I know its been hard and I have pushed the envelope, but he has been a tremendous help. Christine Finkelson Fine Art Photography is a working artist studio and boutique gallery which opened in 2018. The gallery features Christine’s diverse contemporary fine art photography which is printed by the artist on site. Throughout the year the gallery will also feature guest artists. She is inspired by her international travels, all traditions of art – film, literature, sculpture, painting and of course from all the amazing photographers from the past to the present. Christine is in private and corporate collections. In 2017 the Andaz Hotel, in downtown San Diego, licensed two of her photographs to create a large mural in their primary event space. She served on the boards of the San Diego Museum of Art Artist’s Guild and the Del Mar Art Center as both an artist and board director.

Mad Mats come to us from Thailand and are made out of recycled polypropylene. They’re mold and mildew resistant, UV treated and our clients get 3 to 4 years of use out of their purchase.

After owning and managing Harbour Hardwood Flooring in Los Angeles for eighteen years he moved down to San Diego and opened Cut & Dried Hardwood Flooring showroom.
Etienne has experience in various residential and commercial jobs from restaurants and homes to airports and government landmarks. While working conventional jobs, he has also volunteered cost, time, and services to restore flooring in various parts of North County such as Olivenhain Meeting Hall and Encinitas Botanical Gardens Gift Shop. He not only has experience working with exclusive jobs such as the San Diego International Airport, Shutters on the Beach, Casa Del Mar and the Fairmont Grand del Mar but with top designers and manufacturers as well.

As a C15 installation contractor with over 24 years experience Mike is an expert in all methods of installation of hardwood flooring including glue down, nail down, and floating. He is proficient with job site preparation and leveling assessment.
Sand and Finish Experience
Mike has extensive experience with sanding, staining, and finishing of hardwood flooring. He is an expert in both Urethane and Oil application and can match or create just about any color asked of him.
Job-site Operation Experience
Mike has been supervising hardwood flooring installation and finishing crews for over 20 years. He can take your job from concept to completion at the highest level of professional conduct and integrity, all while providing premium quality.
Julez started her creative journey in 2003 in San Diego, California. As the director of a technology company, she developed considerable business acumen. Her ambition and creative drive was redirected when a dear friend, who later lost his life to cancer, gave her a small charm. “He inspired me to live in the moment, and focus my energy on my dreams, rather than my fears,” says Julez. NATIVE POPPY was established in January 2015 by Natalie Gill as an opportunity to pursue her life's purpose; creating joy in the world by making art with her friends. Established in 1990, Mary Kellejian opened her own Interior Design Studio "Polo Bay" at the Polo Plaza in Del Mar, California. After 21 years, Mary decided to move her studio to Cedros Avenue in Solana Beach, California. Kelli, an Allied ASID designer, like her mom also specializes in Residential Design along with Commercial Design, Model Homes, and Staging. (Del Mar, CA July 29, 2019) The only solely children’s bookstore in the region opened up for business in Del Mar this month. It is located at 1414 Camino del Mar, Del Mar, CA 92014, in the heart of the shopping area and restaurants. Sandcastle Tales is just a few hundred steps from the beach.
The Rhett family has been in Del Mar for over fifty years. Alex Rhett, the founder and owner of Sandcastle Tales, draws upon her experience in International Relations, traveling, and teaching to inform the book selection and activities at the bookstore.
“The kids in our community are passionate about nature, animals and the environment. They are outside surfing, hiking, horseback riding, and exploring. That’s the kind of community we serve. Sandcastle Tales is the place where families can begin their journey of exploration. We have books on nature, animals, ocean, art, environment, and so much more. The kids here love to be outdoors and then grab a book and read to continue their adventures in their minds,” says Rhett.
“Our community bookstore encourages reading. I tell my kids: ‘When you read you get to go places and discover new worlds. You get to hear others’ thoughts and live their experiences,’“ continues Rhett.
When Alex Rhett was recently in Pittsburgh, PA. at the national children’s book conference sharing news of Sandcastle Tales, all of the other attendees who already were bookstore owners were agreeing that Alex’s innovative ideas are worthwhile for kids. “It is encouraging to confirm with other booksellers that what we are doing in Sandcastle Tales is special,” says Rhett.
“Books have come a long way, but still the basics are that you can touch and hold them. Some books add a button that offers music as part of the story. There are books that teach you values. But what makes a book special is how it makes you feel when you read it or hear it read to you,” says Rhett.
“We have a wonderful inventory of curated books for children, including classic books that evoke nostalgia for adults. The books that grandparents read to parents, and now parents read to their children. The Bible is my favorite book; I also enjoy reading adventures and environmentalist stories to my kids” added Rhett.
“This is my family business and it is my passion. Our wonderful library and Sandcastle Tales are all working hard to offer valuable resources to families in our community. I have reached out to the library and the Friends of the Del Mar Library to offer to partner with them to serve our community, and Sandcastle Tales will be donating books and more to the library. I have many business ideas, but to me, opening a children’s bookstore is one of the best ways I can give back to my community, and express my deep love and care for families.”
In addition to books, Sandcastle Tales offers multilingual story times, sand art, crafts, interactive sand play, toys, tasty frozen treats and candies, gifts and souvenirs; Spanish language lessons and other tutoring services are available by appointment. The bookstore hours are M-Sat from 10 to 5 pm, and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. All current activities are posted on social media.
Roya Parviz is the founder and creative force behind Satori Designs. The philosophy of the company is ‘Global Fusion” inspired by travel, music, art, tradition and the dazzling colors and forms of nature. Satori Designs features an eclectic collection of women’s clothing and accessories in collaboration with local and international designers.
Roya launched her company in 1994 after receiving her Economics and Visual Arts BA from UC, San Diego, followed by an AA in Fashion Design from Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandizing in Los Angeles.

Surf Ride was founded in 1974 by twin brothers Bill and Richard Bernard with the original and flagship location being in Oceanside on Coast Hwy.
Bill and Richard started out in a little 800 sqf adobe building on what was then called "Hill Street" in Oceanside CA. Originally a Hobie Cat dealership with a focus on the core sports of the ocean. As sailing became less popular and every time it rained in Oceanside the adobe building would leak water through the walls and the streets would flood the front door, the brothers decided it was time to build a new building. They knew that they needed one that could fulfill the dreams they had of becoming Californias premier destination shop for all things SURF!
In 1984 they began construction on what is now Surf Ride. The building was originally split into 3 different business with a restaurant on the side. As business improved and the need for more space was fulfilled by tearing down walls and expanding the surf department. Business was booming for surf and after 13 years they decided it was time to open an second location. In 1997 the Solan Beach location was opened up. The 7,500 sqf store was custom built from the ground up to house the largest surfboard selection in California.
By 2005 the brothers had both had enough of the daily grind and decided to retire and let the next generation take over the business. Dustin and Josh Bernard stepped in to let their dad and uncle chase the dream of sailing the South Pacific and surfing perfect waves in warm water. Today, Dustin is actively shaping surfboards for Surf Ride under the SR/MFG label and Josh is the active CEO of Surf Ride.
Surf Ride Boardshops are truly one of the last surviving core family owned surf shops in AMERICA. Elizabeth was born and raised in NYC, went to college in California, settled and raised her family in North San Diego County. In 2006, Leslie joined Weeds after 17 years as a successful Crabtree & Evelyn licensed store owner. In 2010, Danusia joined us after working with us for 4 years. Born in Poland, migrated to England then Brazil, her background adds to the unique European flair of Weeds. We are located in the Cedros Design District in Solana Beach, just north of Del Mar, California. Our store specializes in comfortable, casual clothing, a little left-of-center, so that each woman can create her own “Style”. We strive to carry natural fiber clothing made in the U.S. and Europe. Our motto is “The quality of the past, the comfort of today, and the style of tomorrow." We find exquisite clothing that fits the woman of today.

Born and raised in Vienna, Austria to Bulgarian parents, I was exposed to the breathtaking richness of Viennese architecture, sculpture, art, and music.
Diversely inspired by a lifelong love of the arts, I explore my creative vision of life and use my intuition to translate images of my past and present. I moved to the United States at age 12 with a European influence that shaped me into an artist acutely in tuned with the beauty of everyday life.
I studied at the Atheneum School of the Arts in La Jolla, Watts Atelier in Encinitas, and the Losina Art Center in Point Loma. My solo shows have been at Graham Downs Architecture, Teknion in Los Angeles and Ray at Night. I exhibited in group shows at ArtSD17, Kettner Arts and the Losina Art Center. In 2008 and 2014, I participated in the juried show at the Atheneum in La Jolla.
Currently I am working on private commissions and preparing for my future shows.
