AWARD WINNING COFFEES SINCE 2003
At Barefoot, we responsibly source the most delicious culinary coffees. Our beans, Cold Brew coffee and cafes have won awards from Food & Wine Magazine, Huffington Post, 7x7 among many others.
Like wine grapes, we seek high quality traceable coffee beans grown in fertile soil, often in higher elevations, with ideal climates. Hand-picked when ripe ensures wildly delicious coffees!
Our cafes in Campbell and Solana Beach, California offer all of our delicious specialty coffee creations. We curate food and ingredients from the finest artisans, many of whom offer organic, gluten free or sustainable products.
SMALL BATCH ROASTING
Combining the science of coffee with our expert culinary palates, we roast to order in small batches. This highlights origin terroir and coaxes out the full complexity of flavor that is already present in the green coffee just waiting to emerge and dazzle your taste buds.
LIGHT VS DARK ROASTS
Our roasts focus more on developing actual flavor notes. Do you really want "smokey" coffee? Black, shiny beans may look good, but it generally means those beans are over-roasted (ie, burnt) and that's what you'll taste. The shiny oils should be on the inside of the bean!
As one of the pioneers of Direct Trade sourcing, we buy from the most conscientious producers and select coffees that take our breath away.
The higher price we pay for our green beans not only help our farming partners earn more money, but educational programs lead to better sustainable farming practices.
By sourcing the best beans and hand-crafting each roast, we extract flavors like banana split sundae, guava, chocolate ganache, cola berry and thick dollops of plum molasses. Are you craving Barefoot Coffee yet?

About Us - French Fare Meets California Fresh
Café culture in France goes back centuries. Cafes have always been a gathering place for intellectuals to meet and debate philosophical issues; for the Avant Guarde set to display their works; for artists to compare and exchange ideas and for writers to drown their sorrows over their artistic anguish or melancholy. Madeleine Café & Bakery brings the French Café Society to the doorstep of sunny Solana Beach. We offer a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options such as salads, sandwiches as well as fresh bread, Parisian desserts and high end organic coffee.
We are your go-to spot for brunch on South Cedros. In the mood for bottomless mimosa's or a glass of wine? We've got you covered. From rosé to sauvignon blanc & pinot noir to bordeaux, our gourmet French wine's will have to smiling all throughout brunch.
Whether you're looking for a rendez-vous spot, a networking source or just a place to relax or to refuel, stop by for a cappuccino, a pain au chocolate or even a Parisian salad and soak in the sun on our relaxing covered patio.
Farm, Family, Fun, Education, Community
Our company values the source of where our products come from and the community around us. It’s important for us to know and understand the values of our suppliers. By knowing our food, we can prepare our dishes in a way that lets the rancher, fisherman and farmer shine on your plate.
The vision of this space is an extension, an expression of the roots of where our company originally came from. The desert, the land, the seed, the cow, the water, the crop, the labor, the dedication, the craft, and the passion.
With these thoughts in mind we also want to continue the tradition of care and attention to detail with our local community. We are not just your local coffee shop. We are a gathering place for the community to come and dine or pick up dinner to take home. While you’re here take the time to learn about where your food comes from through one of cooking demonstrations or classes. Relax on our patio with a great drink at the end of a long day. Then take dinner home to your family knowing that you are giving them the best.
Our mission is to be an extension of the farms we use through the food and drink we serve.
Since 1948, the Walker family name has become synonymous with quality family dining. The family has since perfected its reputation for outstanding gourmet pancakes and breakfasts. Our story begins when Victor and Everett Walker began opening snack shops in Evanston, IL. In 1960, they opened Walker Bros. Original Pancake House in Wilmette, IL. In 1981, Richard Walker Sr. and Ray Walker, sons of Victor, opened Walker Bros. Original Pancake House in Glenview, IL. In 1989, Richard Walker Sr. ventured out on his own and opened Richard Walker’s Pancake House in Schaumburg, IL. In 1996, Richard Sr. opened a second location in Crystal Lake, IL. In 2006, Richard Sr. relocated to San Diego and opened the third location in downtown San Diego, CA. In 2014, Richard Walker Jr. joined the family business and opened the fourth Richard Walker’s Pancake House in La Jolla, CA. In 2019, Richard Jr. opened the fifth Richard Walker’s Pancake House in Carlsbad, CA. In 2020, Richard Jr. opened the sixth Richard Walker’s Pancake House in Del Mar, CA. Richard Walker’s Pancake House has been, and always will be, a 100% family owned, family funded, and family operated business. Period.
What’s Up With the Rabbit?
In numerous cultures throughout the world, the rabbit symbolically indicates comfort, abundance and family. Richard Walker’s Pancake House has chosen the symbol of the Rabbit to communicate our warmest gesture of “Welcome Home.” We hope that any time you see the Richard Walker’s Rabbit you find the symbol as comforting as we do.
Why is Richard Walker’s Coffee so darn good?
We start with the finest blend of whole-bean Prime Roasted Coffee sourced from Central America. The beans are roasted and delivered to our operations only. Then, each pot is ground fresh - one pot at a time. We filter our water to maximum purity and then slowly drip the water through the freshly ground beans. What’s left is rich, full-bodied, deeply flavored coffee. As Victor Walker Sr. would say, “It’s only a matter of a minute from the whole bean to a cup of the best coffee you have ever tasted.” Often imitated, never duplicated.

Founded On Family
Each time we open a Swami's Café and join a new community, your family becomes part of ours. From humble beginnings, our family of restaurants has become a fixture of healthy dining across San Diego County. And it all started with Jaime Osuna's vision and the help of his family and friends.
Building Swami's took dedication, and that commitment is just as strong today, with Jaime visiting his restaurants daily and continuing to involve his friends and relatives in many facets of the business.
Friendly Vibes & A Fresh Menu
We keep the family ties and beach vibes going at all our cafés. Each time you visit, our goal is to give you a dining experience that's full of fresh food – with a carefully chosen variety that caters to a range of preferences.
Since our café began next to the world-famous Swami's Beach, it's only fitting that our all-organic coffees are sourced from the best beans worldwide. With our focus on freshness, we pride ourselves on roasting our beans on-demand, so you can enjoy a truly fresh-roasted cup.
Swing by Swami's soon, and experience our friendly, fresh, and family-centric restaurant!
