Alce 101 has been a lifetime in the making. It stems from Apple Valley, California in 1960.
At age 6 my Father took me to Roy Rogers Museum in Apple Valley Ca. Roy was a partner of my Father’s and was known for his hunting skills. Also Roy was well known for preserving and repurposing ALL that he hunted. I never will forget the beauty and the feeling of NEVER wanting to hunt anything. I will also NEVER forget the giant beautiful MOOSE with a nick from the shot in his antler.
In 2015, my wife and I were on our way to Palm desert and stopped into this random antique store. I was looking around for some time and found this massive object covered up in the corner. I asked the shop owner to let me take a look. He lifted the cover and there it was, that magnificent beauty of a moose “ALCE”. Neglected. Forgotten. Hidden in a corner.
The shop owner showed us the certificate of authenticity and that was the MOOSE I had seen, the moose I fell in love with in a museum over 50 years ago. The nick on the antler from the shot and all.
We were so amazed by him and wanted to give him a new life in our ALCE 101 Restaurant venture. We put our deposit down and eventually took him home to protect. He will live at the center of our bar in the Alce 101 restaurant. ALCE means MOOSE in Spanish.
Each of these tastes of Santa Fe New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Guadalupe Valley and the local provisions of the California coast will be expertly partnered with our vast selection of tequilas, mezcals, wines, beers and beverages.

Fidel's Little Mexico has been a San Diego landmark since the early '60s when owner Fidel Montanez came up with the idea to serve tacos at his busy barber shop.
The shop was located in the heart of Eden Gardens, a small neighborhood in Solana Beach that was home to a number of Mexican families. The tacos sold like hotcakes, and before long, the place evolved into a neighborhood cantina.
The business thrived and expanded as Fidel converted his two-story residence into three different levels, including a festive courtyard, a couple of bars and outdoor patios, and a taco bar.
Today, Fidel's ranks among the top restaurants in San Diego County. Happy hour is offered four days a week in the large upstairs bar. Fidel's menu offers traditional favorites as well as house specialties that will transport you and your party South of the Border.

HOW IT ALL STARTED
In March of 1987 Gina and Vince Marsaglia, a pair of siblings in their 20′s, bought a struggling pizza place in the sleepy coastal town of Solana Beach, just north of San Diego. Early on, Vince took advantage of free space in the restaurant’s storage area to dabble with home brewing. The hobby took off and at the urging of friends and fans, Vince and Gina decided to go into the brewpub business. Pizza Port offered its first craft-brewed beers to patrons in 1992 and quickly gained a reputation in San Diego’s growing craft beer scene.
Following their success at the Solana Beach location the company has been steadily expanding. Location #2 opened in 1997 in Carlsbad. Location #3 opened in 2003 in San Clemente. In 2008 a premium bottle shop was added adjacent to the Carlsbad location, which offers hundreds of options from other breweries in the craft beer community. Pizza Port location #4 opened in 2010 in Ocean Beach. And, most recently, location #5 opened in 2013 in the Bressi Ranch community of Carlsbad, and introduced a canning line to allow Pizza Port beers to find their home on store shelves across San Diego county!
So far, the Pizza Port locations collectively have won over 91 medals/awards from the Great American Beer Festival, and we continue to encourage our brewers to create unique and award winning beers. Our entire crew works hard to provide the best guest experience possible, all while having a great time!
While we don’t know entirely what’s next for us, we want to continue to brew great beer, make great pizzas, and make new friends. Through all the growth and changes we have seen over the past 30 years, what continues to drive our passion and our mantra still rings true, so cheers to that!

TIDEWATER TAVERN'S STORY
Established in 1994 by Sam Lunde, California born and bred surfer, fisherman, and chef. Sam grew up in the restaurant business, son of a bookkeeper at a historic roadhouse in Santa Barbara's Santa Ynez Valley. He was cooking and baking Danish pastries by the age of 13. He perfected his techniques at culinary school and put his education to work in the 80's at the Kona Grill here in Solana Beach.
Sam started Tidewater in '94 based on three simple ideas: local flavors, made from scratch quality, and a friendly welcoming atmosphere.
Today, we make our own dressings, Solana salsa, tortilla chips, and potato chips right here. Hand cut crispy calamari is the signature ingredient in or original tacos and sandwiches. Our 100% Angus beef burgers earn rave reviews from both local and visitors.
For two and a half decades, our cocktails and food have been handcrafted and adorned with tasty touches you cant get anywhere else. So grab a seat and cocktail, take a taste, and enjoy our warm atmosphere and friendly service.
Welcome to the Tidewater Tavern - Dive into the Tide!
It was immediately after World War II in 1946 that Tony and Catalina Gonzales decided to open a restaurant on the present site. Tony had just returned from military service and Catalina, who had contented herself with staying at home while Tony was away, persuaded him to allow her to open a Mexican restaurant right in his parents' home.
Open at first only on weekends, the modest establishment could seat just 26 persons. Catalina did the cooking and Tony helped serve. Soon the word about their chiles rellenos, turkey tacos and other tasty food spread throughout the area and even as far north as Los Angeles. Travelers and local residents would line up outside for long periods of time as they waited to be served.
Soon the Gonzaleses realized that they would have to extend their business days to accommodate the hungry diners. Tony's Jacal, or “old building,” was enlarged several times during the intervening years and the present six-day week was established. Now the restaurant is open every day but Tuesday.
Traditional Mexican dishes are prepared with mild or hot seasonings to please the discriminating palate. The menu also includes some American entrees.
Tony passed away May 1, 1974, and Catalina passed on April 24, 2000. The tradition of serving fine Mexican food is being carried on by their two daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Gonzales family is proud of their cuisine and the years of devoted service they have given their customers, many of whom return regularly for the chiles rellenos and other Mexican favorites.
Viewpoint Brewing Co. is founded on the principle that everyone – and everything – brings a unique perspective to creation and interpretation. Located in the coastal town of Del Mar, CA, Viewpoint is the city’s first brewery, bringing together the diverse perspectives of a collaborative group of longtime members of the culinary and craft brewing communities. Founded by Charles Koll, the 7,000 square-foot brewery and restaurant features a full-service dining experience helmed by Executive Chef Mike Patula, serving familiar dishes reinterpreted. As part of the world renowned Belly Up, The Wild Note Cafe is a neighborhood bistro style restaurant with exceptional atmosphere, exciting food and excellent service. This is where guests enjoy the offerings of our talented Chef, both before and after the show, or for a relaxing lunch. We are located in the heart of the Solana Beach Cedros Design District, within walking distance of the Train station. The style is casual with fifty-six seats (plus bar seating). The patio may be privatized and seats up to 18 guests. Cuisine is Pacific Coastal/Mexican fusion.
